A drone that can take of like a quadcopter but has the efficiency of a plane at cruise.

I have decided to not buy my own propeller and design one for my self. I settled on a rotor and stator design with a hub around it. I may need to test this against a store-bought propeller. Knowledge from the jet engine project came in useful here as this is basically just an axial compressor.

Now back to the design. Making this 3D printable was more challenging than first expected but here is my current progress.

I have finished soldering the all the components together. Took a bit as I realised that I needed more components and had to order them. Also printed a frame for most components to be fitted onto so it is not too much of a mess.
The length of those motor wires may be a problem. I may have to extend them when attaching to the frame.

I finally got myself the Ender 5 Plus 3D Printer and can actually bring this to life. Now to redesign the drone so that it is printable. But before that, I also ordered the electronics. I got myself the Matek F405-VTOL Flight Controller along with other parts. This is probably good to do the all 3 motors and their tilt servos as well as an FPV camera and some other sensors.

I figured that 2 propellers under the wings are not enough so I made a space for a third inside the tail.
I also started with researching on the electronics side.

Recently, I have had the urge to build a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing). I have been watching a handful of FPV drone videos and I thought it would be cool to make one for myself but make it a VTOL instead. I have had a vision of riding one as my daily commuter but I understand that even helicopters are not mainstream with the common people.
My first thought is to design an aeroplane and modify the engines by making them tilting rotors and here is what I came up with.
