A self-containing cooking and vending machine that turns raw ingredients into a vendable snacks for students/workers that are in a hurry.

I took a beginner course in PCB Design for this project. This is what I made first.
I will continue to iterate on this like replacing the pin headers into screw terminals.

Designed the cooking module.

Designed the rice cooker.

I came back home to Zamboanga where I can actually start building the machine. I have started to learn to weld with a friend.

Started building a website. This will be the backend of the whole operation. This will contain a dashboard for admins to monitor all the sensors of the machine/s. This will also be the endpoint where the webhooks from PayMaya will point to and create a data stream where the machine will verify whether or not the payment has been made. Inputting the restocking of the machine will be made here for future independent contractors/freelancers to notify the system (of course validating the weights too).

There’s a bunch of updates. I have laid out the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the vending machine.
I am half way in implementing and animating this into a GUI software (PyQt in this case).
In terms of the payment system, I was able to procure an invitation on Maya Manager. This enabled me to develop a webhook trigger that basically notifies me (or the system) of a payment, triggering the chain of commands to dispense the Onigiri.
Lastly, for the electronics, I have decided to use a Raspberry Pi 3/4 (or an alternative) for the display, an Arduino Uno for the vending part, and another microcontroller (probably an STM32 microcontroller) in a PCB I will design to control the cooking and assembling of the onigiri.

I just realised the whole system may be annoying for the customers. New plan. You can pay only using GCash, Apple/Google Pay, or other contactless payment methods. I do not need to order through an app. Probably best to have everything in one spot. Also, since the whole gimmick is that this is the future and it’s all presented on a screen, maybe allowing customers to customise their onigiri may add more appeal. This can also artificially extend the line, giving the illusion that this is a sought-for product.

I am learning how to use the WordPress API so I can use it as a back end for the machine. Current plan is to use the vending machine as a storage/dispenser for the snack, not as originally planned for on site cooking/assembly because of the amount of time it needs to make the food.

I have been wanting to make one of these for a while. Mainly because I’m lazy to make my own food whenever I just feel hungry and food delivery is too expensive.
